What better way to kick-off Pride Month 2021 than to honor all of the amazing LGBTQ+ creatives making waves in their communities. We chatted with 4 influencers about what makes them proud, who inspires them, and how beauty helps to define their individuality.

Ivan

What’s your favorite thing or what makes you proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community? I love the fact that I can be my authentic self. The LGBTQ+ community does that very well. We stand up for rights, we are unapologetic & we live in our truths. I can’t imagine waking up every morning and not being able to be my true self.

What inspired you to become an influencer? You know when I first got into makeup about 8/9 years ago, I didn’t see any boys in beauty with facial hair. The standard boy in beauty was typically white, feminine, no facial hair & no body hair and I was none of the above. So I created my own space where I could express myself and my makeup as a brown, bald & bearded individual. I hope to inspire all boys out there that feel they don’t fit the standard beauty mold, because I don’t and I’m out here doing the damn thing, okay trust!

Who is your inspiration and why? I don’t have one specific person or thing that inspires me. I get inspired by a lot of things & my friends who are also creatives. I find inspiration through art, makeup, fashion & photography.

How do you use makeup/hair color to express your personality or individuality? I use makeup to express my feminine side. My must haves when doing my makeup are highlight, false lashes & a high shine gloss.

+ a fun fact about yourself 😊 I actually never used to wear eyeliner because I have uneven hooded eyelids and I didn’t know how to work with my eye shape. I would get so frustrated because I couldn’t get that perfect sharp wing. But in 2020 I discovered my love for graphic liner and since then I’ve been obsessed.

What’s your favorite thing or what makes you proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community? I am proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community because of the courage it takes to stand up for yourself and our rights. Many members of the LGBTQ+ community have experienced struggles and stigmas that others cannot imagine. We have been labeled as weirdos and have been called terrible things, but we still kept going. And, I’m thrilled that we continue to break the stereotype. There is nothing like gay culture. We created something extraordinary from the pain and persecution, and we continue to thrive.

What inspired you to become an influencer? To be honest, I don’t consider myself as an influencer. I’m more like a content creator. The thing that inspired me to become a content creator was people like me that needed representation. I want to have a platform where I can share my creativity, thoughts, and values.

Who is your inspiration and why? My biggest inspiration is LADY GAGA! She had a significant impact on my life. Her music, style, and message never fails to inspire me. Through her, I fell in love with the beauty industry, and she helped me explore my creative side.

How do you use hair color to express your personality or individuality? I think changing your hair color is liberating, and it is my way of expressing myself. Whether its a new color, new style, or even wearing wigs. It’s fun and it makes you want to try new things and be unique. Changing my hair color or style depends on my mood, occasion, or many other reasons. I believe it is a tool of self-expression, just like make-up and fashion.

What’s your favorite thing or what makes you proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community? My favorite thing about the LGBTQ+ community is the sense of resilience that everyone has built for themselves. It takes real confidence and courage to live authentically, especially being queer, so seeing how strong and progressive our community is makes me the most proud.

What inspired you to become an influencer? I started doing makeup when I was 12 and quickly noticed that there was no representation for boys in beauty besides pro artists behind the scenes. That honestly created a spark in me and I wanted to do my part to add more male representation to the beauty industry, especially for feminine boys.

Who is your inspiration and why? Definitely Rihanna. Aside from both of us being the best sign (Pisces), I’ve always admired the way that she carries herself in the most unapologetic way. Since a child, she’s pushed me to be more authentic, creative, and confident.

How do you use hair color to express your personality or individuality? I’m obsessed with cohesion and aesthetics so I love using hair color to really exaggerate however I want to look or feel at that time. I experimented with literally every color in the rainbow while I was younger; now that I’m older, the aesthetic is very neutral and Kim K.

+ a fun fact about yourself 😊 A fun fact about myself would be that I’m gonna be the CEO of your future favorite beauty brand one day, just watch.

What’s your favorite thing or what makes you proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community? One of my favorite parts of being in the LGBTQ+ community are the amazing humans that I am able to connect with and bring together from all around the world. It feels so special to be a part of this giant international family.

What inspired you to become an influencer?  I was inspired to step into this role when I realized how sharing my story could positively impact our community. As an LGBTQ+ Self-Love Coach, my mission is to help LGBTQ+ humans live liberated and empowered lives rooted in self-love and authenticity. I feel incredibly grateful to have a platform where I can help inspire people in our community everyday–even if my message only resonates with one person–I’ve done my job.

Who is your inspiration and why? Honestly, I see my highest self as my own inspiration. When I reflect on the challenges that I have overcome in my journey, I feel super proud. I know that if I had the strength and resilience to get through those times, I can do absolutely anything. I feel really inspired by everyone in the LGBTQ+ community.

How do you use hair color to express your personality or individuality? Hair color can be such a fun way to express ourselves authentically, and I love to use hair color to express the season of my life that I’m in.

+ a fun fact about yourself 😊 A fun fact about myself is that I currently run a free International LGBTQ+ Community with thousands of people from all around the world!

We loved hearing their stories, and hope you did too! There is nothing greater than being true to yourself, standing up and standing out for what you believe in and who you love. That is Pride! Be sure to follow these beautiful souls on Instagram for a dose of self-love and a full serving of looks of course!
